In this assignment, you are expected to exhibit all the basic principals of an effective delivery (which we have discussed all semester)- Be direct and Natural, Show enthusiasm, Project confidence and most import be professional. You need to clearly state your claim, maintain a central idea throughout, and provide a variety of supporting material and verbal citations. Special emphasis should be given to evidence and reasoning. Persuasive appeals (ethos, pathos, logos) should be evident.
Requirements:
Typed Work Cited page must be uploaded with the assignment.
Speech should be 5-7 mins. Use supporting material to elaborate on points.
Sources (5)- Min. 5 academic sources. Verbal citations required throughout speech. At least 3 should be written/published format. Sources should be less than 3 years old.
Visual Aids (optional) should be professional, easy to see/understand, and educational. Use at least 2 visual aids to illustrate, emphasize or clarify you message. (PowerPoint, Photos, Graphs, Charts, etc.)
Limited use of note cards (or outline) is recommended. Reading, heavily relying on notes, lack of eye contact, or long silent periods will result in point deduction.
Organizational Pattern- Problem/Cause/Solution: speech points should be organized to identify a problem, analyze the causes, and propose a solution.
CALL TO ACTION- include a clear specific request for action from your audience.
