To what extent does the power of language have an effect on humour?EE Objectives & overall summary

The main objective of this EE is to explore the power of language within humour.
To illustrate I will be analysing how linguistic techniques, and humour theories evoke emotions from the audience (Joy – laughter, uncomfort from black comedy etc..).In order to start the research,selected a personal favorite comedy text, a stand-up comedy script “2002 Robin Williams Live on Broadway”.have focused the analysis on these three humour theories – Incongruity theory, Hostility theory, and Release theory. These three theories must be introduced in the introduction. (Further information below).

For each section of analysis, a sub-conclusion of the overall summary (2-3 lines) should be added linking it back to the research question allowing all points to be clear.

The overall conclusion should contain:
Summary of the overall analysis
Rephrased thesis
Talk about how there are many similarities and contemporary comedy is heavily based on the Shakespearean comedy and points which provoke laughter are similar.
Lastly emphasise how the analyses that have been made shows the power of language (linking back to the RQ)

For the analysis of the Machanicals in “Midsummer night’s dream” analyse the name of the characters as well.

In the third section of the Analysis,will compare the two different texts and find similarities such as Oxymorons in Midsummer night’s dream and incongruity theory, repeating sexual imagery of ass from bottom with Robin’s release theory etc
