Prepare the student to apply the relevant evidence-based policing models to decision making and problem solving in a professional police context.

Upon successful completion of the module, students should be able to;

Understand the purpose, powers and organisational structure of the police service.
Understand the role of a police officer in uniform, and the concept of policing by public consent.
Understand the importance of the code of ethics, decision making and the maintenance of professional standards
Understand the responsibility and importance of exercising police powers fairly, with integrity whilst respecting the diverse communities served by the police service.
