This is a much bigger list than you may have anticipated. Stakeholders are, in essence, watching to see that the services provided are indeed meeting expectations. Before we explore aspects of how a stakeholder can influence organizational change, let’s identify the primary stakeholder. Some may consider investors or executive directors as primary stakeholders. Some may consider the health care professionals as primary stakeholders. This may be the case in some industries, but a service such as health care, and in particular, a same-day surgical center focuses on the patient and family. The primary stakeholder is the patient.
With this in mind, the wise leader will keep his or her ear to the ground to ensure that the primary stakeholder’s needs are met.
