Interest groups have great power in the making of public policy. I want you all to understand how vital they are to US politics and government by having you choose a group in an area  contains hundreds of groups working within healthcare, education, foreign policy, reproductive rights, the environment, and many more.

Essay Details

1) Describe ONE event in the last years five years or so which highlights the group’s interaction with the political process.

2) Such an interaction could highlight the group’s relationship to a particular politician, a political party, and/or a specific piece of legislation in Congress.

3) Provide a commentary of the event which includes BOTH your view of the issues as well as an assessment of the positives and negatives of the overall involvement of the organization in the political process.
