Ecological genetics of Ursus americanus (American Black Bear)

The species that it needs to be on is Ursus americanus.

Have been told that mine should be on the topic of gene flow.

Am not sure if this is standard but the introduction needs to have definitions in it, the species needs to be introduced and the importance of the essay needs to be explained.

For the methods part it need to be brief so just things like markers (eg microsatellities/mtDNA), sample size and location. I’ve been told that figures of maps can be included for the location.

For the wider context part it can be linked to stuff like conservation issues and subspecies status.

Have been told that they don’t want a long paragraph on each study.

It can include the odd old reference if its really relevant but needs to be mainly recent ones. Ideally no books and websites.

Make sure the Learning Objectives are met:

1) Demonstrate understanding of the major issues currently debated within population genetics

2) Demonstrate understanding of the processes leading to variation and speciation

Am not sure what stuff you will have assess to so have attached some journal articles just encase you want them. The one called Ursus americanus is defiantly not open access. Feel free to let me know if there is a paper you can’t read because I might have access to it. I do have the book that it talks about in the guidelines too and I can send photos of the pages if you need that.
