Demonstrate the shape of the theory on its own and how it intersects. Have a theoretical conversation in the field. What are the similarities and differences?
1. Be able to site the seminal literature and state the key figures and writings in the field of and organizations.
2. Demonstrate some historical aspect of the field. (Ex. When does servant leadership come into the conversation? – What goes on before and after that Robert Greenleaf’s work becomes so important? Mark the trajectory. Kellermans book on leadership is a start but has to be more in depth.
3. Be able to focus into areas of theory.. Demonstrate the shape of the theory on its own and how it intersects. Have a theoretical conversation in the field. What are the similarities and differences?
4. Move into conversation about methodology, methods and research. Be able to articulate that there is a future of research that you can do if you are in this field and you know what they are.
5. What are the emerging questions and trends in the field based off the history, theory and future research.
