Critically discuss a staff nurse’s role in leading safe, quality, person-centred care and, using an example of either nutrition or infectious disease, briefly explain how globalisation and its effects on health may impact on this. Finish with a brief reflection (no more than 500 words) on your own development needs as a new staff nurse. This should not be written as individual mini essays. For some aspects of the essay, you may want to link the staff nurse’s role/ responsibilities with that of other registered nurses, e.g., a ward manger, a chief nurse or a senior nurse working for WHO. The learning outcome on your own learning and development is probably best addressed at the end of the essay where you can start the paragraph by saying something along the lines of Reflecting on the above…then write this section in the first person because it is you reflecting on what you need to do in your first year of qualifying.
