What is the prevalence rate of some diseases in Suba County? What is the incidence rate of some diseases in Suba County? Is there a significant difference between prevalence and incidence rates in Suba County?

Research Hypothesis (Relative Measures of Disease Frequency)

Measures of Disease Frequency in Hospitals
The study of disease existence and its causative agents is the main focus of epidemiologists . Occurrence or frequency of disease among sections of the population is a dynamic process. Subgroups of the population keep changing and so do prevalence and incidence rates of diseases. However, it is this dynamism that enables researchers to identify possible causes and factors that accelerate a disease. Possible curative and preventive measures can be invented.

Selecting and Interpreting Inferential Statistics

Respond to the following short answer questions from Chapter 5 of the Morgan, Leech, Gloeckner, & Barrett textbook:

Compare and contrast a between-groups design and a within-subjects design.

What information about variables, levels, and design should you keep in mind in order to choose an appropriate statistic?

Provide an example of a study, including the variables, level of measurement, and hypotheses, for which a researcher could appropriately choose two different statistics to examine the relations between the same variables. Explain your answer.

What statistic would you use if you wanted to see if there was a difference between three ethnic groups on math achievement? Why?

What statistic would you use if you had one independent variable, geographic location , and one dependent variable ?

What statistic would you use if you had three normally distributed independent variables , plus one dichotomous independent variable and one dependent variable , which is normally distributed?

Explain your answer.

What is the effect of the social distancing/lockdown recommendations and policies on mental health access?

Statistics during a Pandemic

There has been a great deal of statistical data published about the Covid-19 Pandemic. Think like a Health Psychologist.

Part 1: What research approach & sampling/statistics might be used to address these questions?

1.How has the pandemic affected people’s mental health?
2.How has the pandemic affected your education?
3.How has the pandemic differently affected people with varying levels of internet access?
4.How has the spread of the pandemic affected people’s opinions about government and privacy?
5.What is the effect of the social distancing/lockdown recommendations and policies on mental health access?
6.How can we quantify the effects on nutrition and general health of the public on those affected by the virus?
7.How are refugees affected by COVID-19?
Find an online source with statistics, graphs about the pandemic. What is the date for the data collection?
Briefly describe the statistics and what they indicate for psychology and public health.
How can you assess the accuracy of the statistics you shared? Give the web site URL or citation in your post.

list your choice of alpha level and explain that choice.  Will you use the standard p<.05 level or a different criterion and why? Explain what post-hoc tests you used and why they were used.

Any topic related to Psychology

In relation to choosing a statistical test, make sure to start looking at resources which show a variety of approaches.  In these mini-reports, there is only one correct answer for what test to choose, the One-Way Anova this week, but we need to develop your understanding of how to match the research question, variables, hypotheses, number of variables, and scales of measurement with the choice of the correct test.
list your choice of alpha level and explain that choice.  Will you use the standard p<.05 level or a different criterion and why?
Explain what post-hoc tests you used and why they were used.

Write a brief description of your results and what it means about your research question.  Was there a difference between the means you looked at and what would that tell you about the primary research question?  Interpret the effect size measures.

Create frequency polygons. Discuss why you did or did not create a frequency polygon for each variable. Compare the plots in Extra SPSS Problems 3.1, 3.2, and 3.3.

QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS: MEASUREMENT AND DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS
Use the hsbdata.sav file to do these problems with one or more of these variables: math
achievement, mother’s education, ethnicity, and academic track. Use Tables 3.2, 3.3, and the instructions in the text to produce the appropriate plots or descriptive statistics. Be sure that the plots and/or descriptive statistics make sense for the variable.
3.1. Create bar charts. Discuss why you did or did not create a bar chart for each variable.
3.2. Create histograms. Discuss why you did or did not create a histogram for each variable.
3.3. Create frequency polygons. Discuss why you did or did not create a frequency polygon for each variable. Compare the plots in Extra SPSS Problems 3.1, 3.2, and 3.3.

3.4. Compute the range, standard deviation, and skewness. Discuss which measures of variability are meaningful for each of the four variables.
3.5. Compute the mean, median, and mode. Discuss which measures of central tendency are meaningful for each of the four variables.
1. Attach your word document for review and grading. Other file formats are not accepted and will not be graded. Use the following filename format:
2. Include an APA title block with your name, class title, date, and the assignment number.
3. Include a table of contents and a reference section. Number your pages in the footer
along with the date. Include a header starting on page 2 with the Course and assignment number.
4. Write the problem number and the problem title as a level one heading (Example ‐

A.1.1: Chapter 2, Problem 2.1, and then provide your response.

Why should you not use a frequency polygon if you have nominal data? What would be better to use to display nominal data?

Variables, Z Scores, Population and Output

The student will complete 8 short-answer discussions in this course and 1 long-answer

Integrating Faith and Learning discussion. In the thread for each short-answer discussion the student will post short answers to the prompted questions. The answers must demonstrate course-related knowledge and support their assertions with scholarly citations in the latest APA format. Minimum word count for all short answers cumulatively is 200 words. The minimum word count for Integrating Faith and Learning discussion is 600 words. For each thread the student must include a title block with your name, class title, date, and the discussion forum number; write the question number and the question title as a level one heading  and then provide your response; use Level Two headings for multi part questions , and include a reference section. espond to the following short answer questions from Chapter Three in the Morgan, Leech, Gloeckner, & Barrett textbook:

If you have categorical, ordered data what type of measurement would you have? Why?

D2.3.2. (a) Compare and contrast nominal, dichotomous, ordinal, and normal variables. (b) In social science research, why isn’t it important to distinguish between interval and ratio variables?

D2.3.3. What percent of the area under the standard normal curve is within one standard deviation of  the mean? What does this tell you about scores that are more than one standard deviation away from the mean?

D2.3.4. (a) How do z scores relate to the normal curve?

(b) How would you interpret a z score of –3.0?

(c) What percentage of scores is between a z of –2 and a z of +2? Why is this important?

D2.3.5. Why should you not use a frequency polygon if you have nominal data? What would be better to use to display nominal data?

Report whether Cohen’s d or some other measurement of effect size was reported along with the t-test values? Explain if any other information such as confidence intervals were mentioned.

1. Find, cite, and explain one research article in your field of interest which uses any of the t-tests  t-test as one of its analysis. One search method is to use the keywords “your topic of interest” and “name of t-test” as in “ADHD independent samples t-test” or “Attention span dependent samples t-test”. Use your favorite journal search engine and Google in conjunction. Pick the most recent article.
1. Explain the purpose of the article and the hypothesis which the t-test evaluates
2. Find and list the APA formatted t-test values as shown in the results section
3. Explain what those test results demonstrated
4. Report whether Cohen’s d or some other measurement of effect size was reported along with the t-test values? Explain if any other information such as confidence intervals were mentioned. All “point-estimates” like averages, or t-test values can be accompanied by range estimates such as confidence intervals and should be accompanied by measures of effect size.

Discuss how the three GEOINT components are applied to a military, civilian, or commercial intelligence problem-set or scenario.

Below are the definitions for the three components of GEOINT:

A likeness or presentation of any natural or man-made feature or related object or activity and the positional data acquired at the same time the likeness or representation was acquired, including products produced by space-based national intelligence reconnaissance systems, and likenesses or presentations produced by satellites, airborne platforms, unmanned aerial vehicles, or other similar means .
The technical, geographic, and intelligence information derived through the interpretation or analysis of imagery and collateral materials.
Information that identifies the geographic location and characteristics of natural or constructed features and boundaries on the earth, including: statistical data; information derived from, among other things, remote sensing, mapping, and surveying technologies; and mapping, charting, geodetic data, and related products.1
Discuss how the three GEOINT components are applied to a military, civilian, or commercial intelligence problem-set or scenario. This should be an actual intelligence problem that is of concern to the Intelligence Community . If in doubt, please ask before you begin writing.
