How will a winner be decided, what will they win, how many referees are needed, where do we find them?

Transportation: Everyone will be traveling from Miami International Airport. Onsite transportation, costs, distances travel times

Money: you should include a practical budget, and include exchange rates in your report
Packing lists that reflect the local weather conditions, and cultures

Identify and describe at least 5 implementations of this activity at different levels of abstraction. Create a visual representation of this chain with the implantations in relation to the extremes.

Gradient of Abstraction

Everything is in the Word doc so if you cant see it or can download it then please let me know as soon as possible. Choose a “real world” activity that is somewhat frequently represented as an experience in game mechanics.

Identify and describe the most abstracted form of this activity. Analyze the activity implemented in different games .

Identify and describe at least 5 implementations of this activity at different levels of abstraction. Create a visual representation of this chain with the implantations in relation to the extremes.

How is this experience going to influence your development as a researcher and your future research project?

Description

Assignment 1: Experiencing Research Report and ReflectionActions

You have been asked to organize for yourself a practical research experience. There are 3 clear ways you could do this:

Immerse yourself in a research experience by participating in a research project being run at the University of Stirling as a research participant e.g. participation in staff or PhD or MSc student research project.

Engage with a researcher – interview them about one specific research project they are engaged in. Ideally this will be a post-doctoral research fellow, a research assistant or a PhD or MSc student rather than a staff member.

Engage with a stakeholder about research – identify a stakeholder, this may be the coach of a club you are a member of, or your workplace manager (sports/health-related), or employee of a charity (sports/health-related), or member of NHS or social care staff and interview them about what would be an important research question to answer in their workplace (related to Sports Studies/Health) and how this might be conducted as a project – you are looking for their ideas.

given Covid-19 making it difficult to participate in face to face research, if you have participated in a research project in the past year and can remember enough about it to be able to write in the level of detail in the notes below, then writing about this past experience will also be acceptable.

You will need to take notes after the research participation or during the interview to help with your write up. These should be descriptive and also your own reflections.

Assessment: The report should be no more than 1000 words and include two sections:

Part 1: Descriptive Report describing the research experience. A concise descriptive report of the research undertaken/discussed (about 2/3 of the report).

Part 2: A brief reflective report about your experience/what you have learned about research from this (about 1/3 of your report).

Notes to help you:

Adopt a structure that is logical and uses appropriate headings;

The style of writing and presentation should be clear and logical;

Write a descriptive section that clearly describes the research project engaged in or interviewed about. You should consider these questions:

What is the background research area?

What is the research question?

What is the methodology – quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods?

Who are the participants and why were they chosen?

What exact methods are being used and why?

What is the procedure of the research i.e. what did they do/talk about doing

How would they go about analysing the data?

Write a reflective section on your experience of the process and what you have learned about research through this experience relative to the research process. You should consider these questions:

Did you enjoy the experience?

What specific topic did you learn more about?

What specific research methods did you learn more about?

Which part of the research process do you think you learnt the most about?

How is this experience going to influence your development as a researcher and your future research project?

Discuss are inflatable paddle boards less stable? can inflatable paddle boards pop?

We’d like an article discussing the advantages of inflatable paddle boards. Common questions;

are inflatable paddle boards less stable?

can inflatable paddle boards pop?

how safe are inflatable paddle boards?

Inflatable paddleboards are just as safe as hard boards when used as advised. They are constructed with internal cross stitching that results in an incredibly rigid board when pumped to pressure. Because of this cross stitching, a board will not likely pop. A huge advantage of inflatable paddleboards is they fold up in a compact package that can be put in a trunk or checked on an airplane.

Discuss how city and county residents are taxed for sport venues and whether public funding should be used for sport and entertainment venues.

Description

Discuss how city and county residents are taxed for sport venues and whether public funding should be used for sport and entertainment venues (10 points).

Research and give one example of how public funding has been used to build a stadium (5 points).

Known as one of the world’s most spectacular venues, the Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta, Georgia is the first LEED Platinum certified professional sports stadium in North America. The stadium is home to the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United FC, and the Chick-fil-A-Kickoff Game. The construction for the stadium broke ground in 2014 and opened to the public in August 2017.

Building Mercedes Benz Stadium was a controversial decision during the beginning of the proposal process in 2010. In fact, Atlanta already had a stadium downtown—the Georgia Dome—that debuted in 1992 at a cost of $214 million ($398.8 million today) and was the second largest covered stadium in the world (by capacity) at the time (Associated Press 2017). The Georgia Dome held historic events, such as the 1996 Summer Olympics, NCAA men’s final four, and hundreds of professional and amateur sporting events throughout the years. The Georgia Dome had not even reached its 20th birthday by the time discussions started on knocking down the facility and building a new one.

The Georgia Dome was demolished in 2017, and 95 percent of the stadium was recycled and reused. The lot where the Georgia Dome once stood is now used as a green space known as the Home Depot backyard, an 11-acre greenspace next to the Mercedes Benz stadium used for parking and tailgating as well as events and programming on nongame days. The new stadium was able to get platinum LEED certified recognition because

it saves 29 percent in energy usage in comparison to other stadiums,

rainwater is used for landscape irrigation,

it has 4,000 solar panels,

LED lighting throughout the facility reduces energy usage by as much as 60 percent, and

it has edible landscaping (Mercedes Benz Stadium 2020).

Arthur Blank has vowed to rehabilitate the west side of Atlanta by using Mercedes Benz Stadium as the fulcrum that will help to spread success throughout Atlanta and the surrounding communities. In fact, he created a plan called Westside Works, which is a long-term neighborhood program that is focused on creating employment opportunities and job training for residents of the west side community where Mercedes Benz Stadium is located. One of the programs within Westside Works is a six-week culinary academy that trains chefs and is a pipeline to employment inside Levy Restaurant venues in metro Atlanta, including Mercedes Benz Stadium (Solomon 2019). Since construction of the stadium was completed, Mercedes Benz Stadium has hosted many events including a Super Bowl in 2019 and the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament in 2020, and has made the list of possible venues for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Both Mercedes Benz Stadium and the Georgia Dome used public funding through taxpayer dollars to secure the construction of the stadium, with both promoters saying that stadium construction in that area would help the community.

Discuss how city and county residents are taxed for sport venues and whether public funding should be used for sport and entertainment venues (10 points).

Research and give one example of how public funding has been used to build a stadium (5 points).
