In your analysis, be sure to engage with, provide specific examples from, and cite** all of the assigned materials from this week to illustrate your points. Remember, these writing assignments are an opportunity for you to:

Demonstrate you understand the sociological concepts and perspectives examined this week;
Demonstrate an ability to synthesize information from multiple sources to make your claims; and,
Demonstrate an ability to use empirical evidence to support your claims.

Use the ASA Citation Style handout to cite your sources as you write . See page 4 of the handout for examples on in-text citations. You are not required to submit a bibliography, unless you cite material from outside sources. note, though, that any outside sources should be used sparingly; your analysis should focus primarily on the assigned materials.

Find credible sources to learn about your topic. As you research, you may find that you need to narrow/streamline your original topic. Decide what information is most important in relation to our course .
Decide How You’ll Present Your Project
Your task is to teach the class about your topic. You can choose a format that you think will most effectively accomplish this task.
Record a podcast for your classmates.
Record a traditional academic video presentation for your classmates .
Create a documentary style video presentation .
Your objectives for the assignment will be the same regardless of the format you choose:
Provide a clear and engaging discussion of your topic.
Provide enough context about your topic that someone unfamiliar with your topic will be more knowledgeable about it after seeing/hearing your presentation.
Include plenty of evidence to back up your points about your topic.
Incorporate relevant course concepts. Directly demonstrate how your presentation connects to and extends what we’ve learned in class.
Give credit to your sources throughout the project and provide a reference list.

Media and society

This is a two-part assignment. Each student will do a show and tell once throughout the semester. You will share with the class an experience, observation or reflection of how contemporary cultural products, practices or phenomena connect to some of the course concepts introduced in the class.

For example, how does a film, a music video, a news clip, a tv clip, online articles and etc. that you come across tell us about media and society? How does the example resonate with some of the course concepts that we have learned so far? What new issues would you be interested in further exploring based on your finding?

Each Show and Tell should not be longer than FOUR minutes. You will be asked to stop when time is up.Rehearse in advance if needed. Show and tell will take place at the beginning of each class. No sign-up needed.
