4.1 Research Project Proposal Learning Outcomes
The Learning Outcomes of the Research Project Proposal are that you will be able to:
• Demonstrate a detailed, critical and research-informed knowledge and
understanding of an area of Accounting and/or Finance chosen by the student.
• Demonstrate knowledge of synthesis, critical evaluation and critical analysis
• Produce a proposal on an identifiable Accounting and/or Finance research problem
based on a feasible research question
• Critically evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of alternative research designs and
how best to execute a basic research project.

Desirable to use them if possible. However, data must meet a number of assumptions to be able to use parametric statistical procedures.

In Unit III, you developed your research design, or blueprint, for the research project. It is now time to begin working the plan by working with the data. In Unit IV, you will describe the data to determine if assumptions for parametric testing are met.

Parametric tests are more powerful and superior to non-parametric tests, so it is desirable to use them if possible. However, data must meet a number of assumptions to be able to use parametric statistical procedures.

Although assumptions vary by statistical procedure, nearly all statistical tests require the assumption of normality, or a normal distribution of data. When plotted, normality is represented by a bell-shaped curve. This is one of several assumptions you will test for in Unit IV.

Are its conclusions compelling as judged by their significance and supporting arguments?

TLMN – 630 – Research Paper Assignment: 25% of Grade, 100 points: – Due no
later than end of Week 11
Each student will prepare a research paper on a relevant topic in Satellite Communications. Its purpose is to give the student an opportunity to bring the information and concepts of the course to bear on a topic, issue, or project with which he or she is concerned.

Research papers must demonstrate graduate-level work, including writing ability. The test of a good paper is, “Are its conclusions compelling as judged by their significance and supporting arguments?”

Determine an appropriate research design that addresses your research question regarding your chosen topic and explain why this design was chosen. Also, what will your dependent and independent variables be for this study?

You will create the Methodology section of your hypothetical study. This assignment is going to allow you to present your research design and develop and present the details of how your hypothetical study would be conducted.

II. Next, make sure you include the following essential information that pertains to the Method elements:

· Reiterate your research question. What is the purpose of your hypothetical study?
· Determine an appropriate research design that addresses your research question regarding your chosen topic and explain why this design was chosen. Also, what will your dependent and independent variables be for this study?

· For your Participants section describe the following:

o How many participants do you envision having for this hypothetical study and how will you select them ?

o What type of sampling method will you use and why?

o Will you be assigning participants to groups? Yes, no and explain why

o What will the demographics of your participants be ?

Is this necessarily indicative of a regional preference? What lurking variables or confounders could there be?

Use the data file below to follow along with the tutorial and replicate the Pivot Tables shown as close as you can. Work each section on a new worksheet.
Quant Check 6 Pivot Table Data.xlsx  Download Quant Check 6 Pivot Table Data.xlsx
The data contains information about produce sales for a given company to various regions in a given sales year.

Modify your table using “Show Values as” so that you can meaningfully compare the split between categories across regions which have different subtotals.
Recode the “Category Recode” column in the spreadsheet to a 0/1 “dummy” coding, choosing “fruit” as the “1” category. Relabel the column so it is titled “Fruit”.
Create a Pivot Table which calculates total orders in each region, and then uses this “dummy” variable with the Sum and Average functions to calculate the number and percentage.
Create a Pivot Table which calculates the average sales per order for each product category  across the 7 sales regions. Also answer  whether there could be anything to explain the differences in the $ sales between categories across the 7 regions–is this necessarily indicative of a regional preference? What lurking variables or confounders could there be?

What topic(s) did you like the most? What topic(s) was the most challenging? Why? Describe how learning anatomy and physiology will help you in your career?

Write a minimum of two paragraphs for each discussion.
In your reference for this assignment, be sure to include both your text/class materials AND your outside reading(s).

Initial Post Instructions
We learned a lot about anatomy and physiology this session. Address one of the following topics for your initial post.

What topic(s) did you like the most? What topic(s) was the most challenging? Why?
Describe how learning anatomy and physiology will help you in your career?
What are you looking forward to learning more about throughout your education and career?

What factors are responsible for the protracted procurement timeline of approved projects within Company X?

Qualitative research questionnaire

Create a qualitative research questionnaire based on the research topic: An investigation into how protracted procurement affects the execution of approved projects within X Company.

Research Main Question:
What factors are responsible for the protracted procurement timeline of approved projects within Company X?

Sub-questions:
1. To what extent does protracted procurement affect project milestones and budget at Company X?
2. To what extent does Company X follows and adhere to the procurement guidelines.
3. How does the protracted procurement processes at Company X affects business image and reputation?

Examine an area of fashion, enterprise and society based upon a literature review developed by the student.

Research proposal examining an area of fashion, enterprise and society based upon a literature review

The proposal will examine an area of fashion, enterprise and society based upon a literature review developed by the student. This will enable the student to identify a research gap and articulate a research problem leading the student to evaluate the review and propose an appropriate methodological approach to uncover the research gap identified. A consideration of the ethics of the research methods will be considered.
