READ ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS PLEASE READ THE ARTICLE BEFORE COMPLETING THE ASSIGNMENT REVIEW THE SAMPLE CRITIQUE AND FOLLOW THE FORMAT
For your first critique, you are not writing a summary of your article – you are expected to analyze and critique the research study, using APA style.
Critique each section of your article as broken down by Kazdin –
Does each section support the findings and conclusions of the others?
Does the author clear about their biases and conflicts of interest, if any?
How might the authors be clearer in their writing? Do you feel, after reading the paper, that there are concerns about the methods used or the population studied that were not addressed in the conclusions of the paper? What could the authors have done to improve their paper for the reader?
Break the paper into its component parts: abstract, introduction, methods, results and discussion. Give a quick critique of each – was it clearly written? did it give you all the information you needed? what could have been added or subtracted to make a clearer paper? Did the author(s) discuss their own affiliations and biases? Are the references up to date and relevant to the paper topic?
First summarize the Distracted and confused?: Selective attention Underload article that is attached to documents, then address the following questions regarding the article in paragraph form. No bullet points
* Is the theory classified as an early or late selection theory?
* How might when information is selected for additional processing impact the types of information that take priority from a theoretical perspective?
* Do you think there are clear differences between early and late selection theories of attention? Why or why not? What might best differentiate the two types of theories?
The Brain – the Homunculus
Purpose: The brain has a specific organization that is basically similar in all individuals. By knowledge of the location of specific areas in the cerebral cortex and nuclei in the brain one can predict the locations of diseases such as strokes, lesions, and so forth. We will compare the mapping of the motor cortex and the sensory cortex in this assignment.
By the end of this assignment you should be able to:
Define gray matter and white matter.
State the locations and functions of the primary motor and somatosensory cortexes.
Relate the mapping of the number of sensory receptors to the somatosensory cortex.
Relate the mapping of the number of motor neurons and motor units to the primary motor cortex.
Smell from a biopsychological perspective
Develop a paper that explores one of the sensorimotor systems from a biopsychological perspective. Be sure to address the physiological, as well as the psychological, underpinnings of the system. Use each item as a required subheading in your paper.
Be a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 5 full pages, size 12 font Times New Roman, double spaced with 1 inch margins, NOT including the Title and References pages.
This week, you’re learning about some different ways to study more effectively. In this discussion, I’d like you to talk a little bit about how you read and study. Please address the following points:
1. Name and briefly describe two ways you read or study. Tell us a little bit about why you use those two ways.
2. Do those two ways work for you? How do you know?
3. Name and briefly describe two reading or study tips presented in this week’s material that you don’t currently use. How might you incorporate those two tips into your reading or studying.
Psychological development: Is it universal or culturally bound?
It is often assumed that developmental processes and stages are universal. Choose two theories from two areas of .developmental psychology to critically discuss whether development is universal or culturally bound including explicit references to empirical research.
For each research finding in support of this assertion, state one alternative explanation for the evidence.
Describe the circumstances under which people are more likely to imitate aggressive acts. Can it be said with some certainty that viewing aggression increases the likelihood of acting aggressively?
You may use the textbook but do not directly quote the authors; paraphrase into your own words. Also, include at least one academic journal article from the Belhaven Library databases Academic Search Complete and/or Psyc ARTICLES to support your writing. APA formatting.
The subject area is Psychology/Neuroscience. The essay question is ‘Critically evaluate how empirical evidence relates to ONE unresolved theoretical debate that falls within ONE of the following areas of research: Memory’.
Population and Sample
• Discuss the setting, general population, target population, and study sample. The discussion of the sample includes the research terminology specific to the type of sampling for the study.
• When describing the sample size, provide evidence that the sample size is adequate for the research design. If you use the statistical flowchart linked in the Unit 8 formative assessment, you should have an appropriate statistical test.
• Consult the concept paper template for additional guidance.
