What motivated you to apply to NYU? Why have you applied or expressed interest in a particular campus, school, college, program, and or area of study?

Why NYU?
We would like to know more about your interest in NYU. What motivated you to apply to NYU? Why have you applied or expressed interest in a particular campus, school, college, program, and or area of study? If you have applied to more than one, please also tell us why you are interested in these additional areas of study or campuses. We want to understand – Why NYU?
Your answer should be personal to you and, if possible, surprising. Remember that while you have a free reign to gush about how much you want to live in New York, New York, a lot of your potential peers probably feel the same way. So, try not to focus on what you’d like to do or see. Instead, explain what your desire to move from your hometown to New York says about you. Whether you’re trying to be courageous by leaving your small homogenous town or hoping to stay close to your family in Brooklyn, what is your personal reason? And don’t forget that you’re still writing about a school! Is there a professor in your department who has done research you admire that you hope to work with? Is there a program that combines your unique interests that is not offered at any other school? Get specific, but don’t worry about being comprehensive. You’ve only got 400 words, after all! I would also like my essay to include a section about overcoming the odds as a black women and continuing to stay positive throughout this tough time !

Explain why you think open access journals are or are not a good idea. No matter which side you support, be sure to address the arguments from your opposition as well.

Complete the readings and the videos for this week. Referring both to the Eveleth article and the video that interviews Michael Eisen , explain why you think open access journals are or are not a good idea. No matter which side you support, be sure to address the arguments from your opposition as well. You will not be able to see other student posts this week until after you post your own.

What thoughts and feelings emerged for you as the interviewer listening to the interviewee discuss their family of origin and childhood experiences? Did this help you to feel closer to the person that you interviewed? Why or why not?

The goal of the assignment is to experience what it is like to conduct this interview, whether it is with your intimate partner, a close friend or relative, or even a classmate. You may also wish to do this in a “couples’ therapy” format with a couple in your life. The interview typically takes about an hour, but ranges between 45 minutes and an hour and a half. While administering the interview, think about how this could open the door for discussion about important topics in a therapeutic context with intimate partners. Take notes on your “client’s” responses to each question that you can paraphrase later. Once complete, use the scoring guidelines to determine what their attachment style is likely to be. In addition to this, you will construct a narrative discussing what your experience was like as the interviewer, responding to the following prompts:

What thoughts and feelings emerged for you as the interviewer listening to the interviewee discuss their family of origin and childhood experiences? Did this help you to feel closer to the person that you interviewed? Why or why not?
Knowing what you do about attachment styles, the association between adult attachment and maintenance of intimate relationships, and the goals of couples’ therapy, describe how the AAI may help improve relationship dynamics.

List of questions with bullet-points summarizing your volunteers’ answers
3-5 page narrative with (1) the attachment style you believe your participant has based on their answers and the scoring instructions of the AAI; (2) your reflections to the two questions above.

Write down as specifically as you can what your current behavior is and what your desired end goal should be.

Motives; food, love, sex, and work

The Major Motives: Food, Love, Sex and Work
Think of something that you’re motivated to accomplish: achieve in school, excel at a sport, improve our love life, change some unhealthy habits.

Write down as specifically as you can what your current behavior is and what your desired end goal should be. Do you find that a combination of both intrinsic and extrinsic motives are driving your behavior as you seek to progress from point A to point B?

For the goal you’ve selected, do environmental factors outweigh genetic ones in attaining your outcome? Please consult chapter 10 of your etextbook.

Conduct research on it and make sure you include the cover sheet and cited sources pages.

Seven Psychological Perspectives on Abnormal Behavior
Each of the seven major perspectives in psychology emphasizes different factors believed to contribute to abnormal behavior, but in practice they overlap. Consider the phenomenon of compulsive hoarding. Everyone sometimes makes an impulse purchase, and most people are reluctant to discard some possessions that are of questionable value.

But when the acquisition of and inability to discard worthless items becomes extreme, it can interfere with basic aspects of living, such as cleaning, cooking, sleeping on a bed, and moving around one’s home. This abnormal behavior is associated with several psychological disorders, but it is most commonly found in people who have obsessive compulsive disorder, or OCD. Review the psychological perspectives below and see how each of the seven major perspectives helps to explain compulsive hoarding.

Sociocultural, Biological, Cognitive, Evolutionary, Behavioral
Psychoanalytic/Psychodynamic And Humanistic

In your paper make sure you touch on these principles to help explain this abnormal behavior. Conduct research on it and make sure you include the cover sheet and cited sources pages.
