You should also include a Venn diagram. Use at least one peer-reviewed research article in your response. Include pediatric, geriatric, and bariatric considerations, as applicable, from the Norris text.

For Part A, choose one of the following options. For Part B, choose a different option.

Acute gastrointestinal bleeding and intestinal obstruction
Malnutrition and obesity

Part B
Choose a different option (than what you chose for Part A) from the items provided and compare prevention and health promotion in a discussion of 3 to 5 sentences.

Acute pancreatitis and hepatic failure
Acute gastrointestinal bleeding and intestinal obstruction
Malnutrition and obesity

What type of research study design would you use to address that issue, what type of sampling or sampling strategy would you use?

The question is discussion for RESEARCH IN NURSING course.

Consider a patient centered issue you have observed recently. Formulate a research question related to that issue. Identify the independent and dependent variable, hypothesis and type of hypothesis. What type of research study design would you use to address that issue, what type of sampling or sampling strategy would you use?

Defend your choices with support from your textbook or other peer-reviewed journal source..

How can the nurse who made these statements improve her biases: “Isn’t it sad that all she can seem to focus on is her lunch?

Obesity Bias

What would you say to the nurse who told Mrs. L, “am sure that delaying your lunch until we get you settled won’t hurt you a bit?” How can the nurse who made these statements improve her biases: “Isn’t it sad that all she can seem to focus on is her lunch? She needs to be on a strict diet.”

Select one of the articles found under Additional Resources and examine how the information presented may impact your nursing practice and help you understand the stigma associated with obesity.

Explain how the factor you selected might influence the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic processes in the patient from the case study you were assigned.

The following guidelines will be helpful for this week:
JNC 8 Guidelines for the treatment of hypertension in adults
ACC/AHA national cholesterol treatment guidelines
ACC/AHA/AATS/PCNA/SCAI/STS Focused Update of the Guideline for Diagnosis and Management of Patients with Stable Ischemic Heart Disease, and
the ACCF/AHA Guideline for the Management of Heart Failure
These disorders are ubiquitous and the pharmacological principles that direct their treatment can be extremely valuable in any capacity as an APN.

The Case Study for this week’s paper is the below. The instructions will ask you to discuss patient factors such as behavior, age, and ethnicity. Since these factors are not provided, you can create your own and discuss how they would affect this patient’s clinical picture and treatment.
Patient AO has a history of obesity and has recently gained 9 pounds. The patient has been diagnosed with hypertension and hyperlipidemia. Drugs currently prescribed include the following:
Atenolol 12.5 mg daily
Doxazosin 8 mg daily
Hydralazine 10 mg qid
Sertraline 25 mg daily
Simvastatin 80 mg daily

Rubic

1.Explain how the factor you selected might influence the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic processes in the patient from the case study you were assigned.
2. Describe how changes in the processes might impact the patient’s recommended drug therapy. Be specific and provide examples.
3. Explain how you might improve the patient’s drug therapy plan, and explain why you would make these recommended improvements.

Describe THREE principles of the Nuremburg Code and explain how ONE of these principles is important to nursing research.

3.3 Discussion: Ethics in Nursing Research

Getting Started
Over the past three weeks, you have been learning about the qualitative and quantitative research process. You have gained insights into the different methods for conducting nursing research. Prior to any research being conducted, a potential research study is reviewed and approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and/or an ethics committee at the institution where data will be collected.

Upon successful completion of this discussion, you will be able to:
Explain the significance of safeguards that are in place to prevent unethical research practices.
Explain the importance of protecting research participants’ safety through understanding unethical research practices.
Apply the principles of the Nuremberg Code and The Belmont Report to past and current research studies.

Background Information
The Tuskegee study is a true event that occurred in 1932 in Macon County, Alabama in which African Americans were promised treatment for “bad blood.” This study was marred by numerous ethical misconducts. Events such as the Tuskegee study, the Nuremberg trials, and other unethical research practices led to the creation of The Nuremberg Code and The Belmont Report. The principles in these documents were created to protect participants from unethical research practices.
