Describe the types of information included in the report and how the information is used within the facility.

Questions

1) Check Florida’s department of health website. Determine whether Florida has a statewide cancer or immunization registry. If so, determine the source of the data included in the registries. Then, find out what diseases are on the notifiable or reportable list for Florida.

2) Visit any cancer registry. Review the annual report. Describe the types of information included in the report and how the information is used within the facility. Then, find out whether the healthcare organization uses a vendor or a facility-specific information system for the registry. Find out why the particular system was chosen and its advantages and disadvantages. Determine what data security methods are used for the information.

3) Using the internet, access the US National Library of Medicine’s Clinical Trials website (https://clinicaltrials.gov/) and find a clinical trial in Florida. Document the following information: title, condition under study, and location of the trial. Summarize the recruitment status, eligibility criteria, and phase of the clinical trial.

4)Access the HCUP website at http://www.ahrq.gov/research/data/hcup/index.html and find out if Florida participates in the HCUP program. If so, determine who is the state contact for the HCUP program.

5)Using MEDLINE (https://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/), find an article on a disease registry. Summarize the article.

What teacher sent us:
This assignment is usually the most challenging for students. It is a short assignment, but it takes considerable thought, analysis, attention to detail, and good writing to obtain an “A”. The average grade in the past is in the C+/B- range. Have posted a brief powerpoint under Module 12 describing more fully what my expectations are for the assignment. Additionally, have posted both a template for approaching some of the more challenging paragraphs of the paper (i.e. those paragraphs that students usually have trouble with) and have posted AN EXAMPLE of an “A” paper, along with the study that John Doe was critiquing in his paper. READ ALL OF THESE SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIALS IN ADDITION TO THE RUBRIC TO HELP GUIDE YOU THROUGH THE ASSIGNMENT.

Clarification from me:
USE THE “RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED TRIAL…” ARTICLE FOR THIS ESSAY AND ANSWER THE QUESTIONS IN THE RUBRIC “LAB 6 CRITIQUE” THROUGHOUT THE ESSAY

What are the opinions of professionals working with deaf babies and toddlers about the provision of radio aids and how they should be used?

Research questions: What are the opinions of professionals working with deaf babies and toddlers about the provision of radio aids and how they should be used?

Professional opinions of radio aid provision for deaf babies and toddlers.
Background: The benefits of using remote microphone technology such as radio aids with preschool children are becoming increasingly widely appreciated, as research evidences positive gains in relation to speech perception and speech and language development with this age group1–4. Studies have also demonstrated acceptability to parents, who have welcomed the technology particularly to overcome the challenges of distance and noise, thereby enabling enhanced access to speech in a variety of social and early learning settings3,5. There has however been little focus on the use of this technology with infants and young children under 18 months of age.

Children develop an understanding of object permanence, cause and effect, anticipation and expectation as they link for example the sound of the doorbell to an arriving visitor. In terms of the speech signal, parents of hearing children often maintain communication and contact and offer reassurance to their child when further away than the optimum hearing aid distance of one to two metres. Given what is known about the importance of audibility and the soundscape to all children from infancy in terms of cognitive development as well as the development of spoken language and access to speech signal, it may be that radio aid technology would be helpful for children from infancy. However, the use of this technology may need to be carefully managed to ensure that benefits are maximally obtained whilst avoiding possible drawbacks which may be caused by limiting a deaf child’s exposure to cognitively important activity besides the speech signal.

Aim and methodology: Provision of radio aid technology for babies and toddlers is very variable across the UK. The aim of the project is to explore the opinions of professionals who work with deaf babies and children, particularly Teachers of the Deaf and Paediatric Audiologists. An online survey will be devised by the student as part of the project and surveys will be sent to audiology and education services. The student will also collect and analyse the data.

What should be the essential roles and responsibilities of the new community health center governing councils? How should you help the members of these governing bodies become educated about good board work?

Scenario

Terms of reference (TOR)’ for these new bodies must be drafted within one month for consideration as a regulatory act in Parliament. What consider-ations should you weave into this proposed new policy? What should be the essential roles and responsibilities of the new community health center governing councils? How should you help the members of these governing bodies become educated about good board work?

Consider these questions as you begin your journey into the realm of good board work as presented in this chapter.

Discuss the relation between the marginal and average productivity curves and the marginal and average variable cost curves.

Assignments

The following Assignments should be completed and submitted to the course faculty via the
learning platform for evaluation and grading. Submit your responses to these questions in one
WORD document. List the question first, and then your response.
Be sure to properly site your sources, both in-text and with a reference list at the conclusion. If
you use an online source to support your answers, you must provide a properly formatted link to
the source. You should use APA citation format and make sure your sources are credible. In
most cases, your responses should be no more than 400 words.

1. Suppose you are to specify a short-run production function for dental services.
What inputs might you include in the production function? Which would be the variable
inputs and which the fixed inputs?
2. In your own words, explain the law of diminishing marginal productivity. Be sure to
mention the reason this law tends to hold in the short run.
3. Explain the difference between technical efficiency and economic efficiency.
4. Discuss the relation between the marginal and average productivity curves and the marginal and average variable cost curves.
5. What does the elasticity of substitution illustrate? How is it expressed mathematically? What two factors affect its magnitude?
6. Explain the difference between the explicit and implicit costs of production. Cite an example of each.
7. What does economies of scope mean? Provide an example.
8. Explain the reasoning behind the U shape of the long-run average total cost curve. Why might this cost curve shift upward?
9. Describe the two limitations associated with the cost theory provided in this chapter when it is applied to explain the behavior of medical firms.
10. Suppose that you are interested in comparing the costs of producing inpatient services at
Saving Grace Hospital with those at ACME Hospital. Further suppose that the two hospitals annually admit about 24,000 and 32,000 patients, respectively, at average short-run total costs per admission of roughly $11,000 and $12,000.

Why may these average STC figures not represent the economic cost of providing inpatient services at these two hospitals? Explain fully.

Using cost theory as presented in the text, identify and fully discuss four other factors that might explain why ACME Hospital has higher average costs of production than Saving Grace Hospital.
