Redeveloping Policy

This is the second of the two-part policy process assignment. For this assignment, you will focus efforts on policy redevelopment. Based on your research and analysis of the policy and issue from the previous assignment, propose an updated policy that from a systemic perspective will make the policy effective in addressing the public health issue.

Instructions

In your assignment, do the following:

Recommend modifications to the existing public health policy.
Justify these modifications and explain how you think they represent an improvement.
Evaluate related health policies that provide support for your modifications to the policy.
Examine how your proposed modifications address the ethical issues you identified in the previous assignment.
Synthesize scientific, legal, and regulatory approaches that inform your proposal.
Evaluate opposing opinions about your proposed policy modifications.
Recommend additional policy changes that might be needed in the future, based on current trends.
Analyze how culture contributes to the issue and how you addressed this in your policy redevelopment.

Part of successfully implementing a strategic plan is involving everyone in the organization in the plan. You work as an admission coordinator for an assisted living facility that just enacted its 5-year strategic plan. However, no one has communicated any of the components of the plan to any departments, including yours. Instead, management has chosen to include only senior-level management.

Policy Brief: National Health Issue

The purpose of this assignment is to prepare a policy brief on a current national public health problem, issue or concern.
You will be required to write a brief that addresses the questions listed below. The questions listed will guide the organization of your paper, including your APA headings.
You can use tables, pictures, figures, graphs, etc in addition to text.
The policy brief is not to exceed 4 pages (excluding your cover page and references).
You must include at least 5 recent references (within the last 5 years).
Be sure to use titles/subtitles to organize your paper. This policy brief should be focused on a national health issue.
National in this case, refers to federal policies or policies with overarching reach beyond the state level.

2. What is the Background? Present the data describing the issue/problem to be addressed by the policy change. Can include graphs, tables, figures, pictures, etc.

Discuss possible policy options to respond to the problem including a description of what others are doing in response to the problem,what is known about the policy options from peer review literature. As well as a brief discussion of the health, fiscal, administrative, legal, social and political implications of each policy option.

4. What is Your Recommendation? Recommendation focused on how to enact the policy option you are advocating.

Reflection Paper #2 – Ghost Maps

Write a 4-page reflection paper about Ghost Maps. Reflection papers should be in first person voice (e.g. I felt, I thought, it reminded me, etc.) Do not give a plot summary BUT provide enough details/examples from the book to demonstrate that you read it. Case Study Final Paper (100 points)

You will be required to write a short (five-pages, double-spaced, 12 point font, 1 in. margins)
paper on the topic you sign up for on the third week of class. Only word or pages documents
will be accepted on Blackboard. Pdfs will not be accepted. The paper must include the
following sections:

1. Define the health problem [where does it occur, how many people are dealing with it, is it a
historical or current problem, what are the health endpoints (i.e., death, disease, etc.)].
