Do you think that we in fact have duties of solidarity to our political community even though we were not given a choice to be here? If so, why? If not, why not?

Duties of solidarity are duties that individuals have toward the community, what Wadell calls “social justice.” These would be duties to pay taxes to fund programs to help the poor or to support laws that help reduce the impact of luck in enabling people to live good lives. Here is the question: Do you think that we in fact have duties of solidarity to our political community even though we were not given a choice to be here? If so, why? If not, why not?

Remember that this paper is to think about duties and responsibilities of solidarity. Your answers should reflect that. Sandel addresses this issue in Chapter 9 of the textbook. The best answers here, either defending or rejecting the idea of solidarity, will reflect familiarity with that chapter.

Describe the dilemma without naming the people involved directly. Choose an ethical decision making framework .

Ethics In Practice

You will be required to submit a paper based on an ethical dilemma that arises in the context of your practice , past or present. If you cannot think of a suitable example, please ask your practicum supervisor/colleagues to help you come up with a scenario
based on their experience in your practice setting.

Describe the dilemma without naming the people involved directly. Choose an ethical decision making framework .

Describe the framework and then use it to work through your ethical issue. Reflect on whether or not you found the process helpful and in what ways.

Compare and contrast the main points of similarity and the main points of divergence between ethical relativism, existentialism, social norm based ethics and virtue ethics. Identify what you see as the main strengths and the main weaknesses of each theory.

Is there one of these ethical theories that you would advocate over the others? Explain why or why not.

Explain this distinction and then apply it to the various ethical systems we have studied so far this semester, discussing how you would categorize them.

One of the major, traditional distinctions in ethics is that between consequentialist and non-consequentialist theories.

Explain this distinction and then apply it to the various ethical systems we have studied so far this semester, discussing how you would categorize them.

Discuss some of the complications that might be involved in making clear and unambiguous classifications of these theories.

Directions provided by my professor:
Each student is to present on the argument from one of the main texts that are discussed as journal assignments. The due date is different for each presentation . The student should do a PowerPoint or Prezi, outlining the main points of the argument and adopting a stance for or against the position proposed.

It imperative that the student displays an understanding of the main points of the article that is the focus of the presentation. If adopting a critical stance, the student needs to provide a reasoned argument for his or her position, providing supporting evidence and argument. In some cases, it may be appropriate to show how the article chosen fits into the broader discussion of the issue area

Critically analyse three of the main social justice issues of a real global event of your choosing and include an analysis of the media’s role in these issues.

Social justice issues of a real global event

Critically analyse three of the main social justice issues of a real global event of your choosing and include an analysis of the media’s role in these issues. This can be a type of event  or a specific event . Justify why your choice is indeed considered a global event.

The social justice issues could include protests, social/environmental policies, infrastructure issues, financial issues, impacts on communities, host destination’s reputation, labour rights, political power, or similar – these are just examples, so please focus on what is most relevant for your chosen event.

Critically evaluate how organisers/stakeholders handled the social justice issues. The report should include recommendations for fairer future practice, including lesson learned, identifying best practice, and/or suggesting recommendations for better ways to do things in the future.

Contextualise in key academic concepts and support with relevant academic literature.

Students should use a minimum of 20 reliable academic sources. This can comprise, for example, academic journal articles , academic books, government reports and local authority reports. The use of unreliable sources is not permitted. Students may refer to other reliable internet based or newspaper sources but these will not be considered as part of the ‘20 academic sources’. What part of the Code of Ethics applies to this particular ethical dilemma? What would you do to address the situation?

In your own words, what is stated as the primary mission of the social work profession? How would you describe this to a friend or family member?
Define what constitutes an ethical dilemma. Give an example of an ethical dilemma that you might encounter in field. This could involve your own actions, those of a supervisor or an agency policy. What part of the Code of Ethics applies to this particular ethical dilemma? What would you do to address the situation? Be specific in identifying your dilemma and in identifying what part of the Code of Ethics applies.

Assess the implications for this individual if she breached ethical standards by passing off someone else’s work as her own.

Your regional HIM association has enlisted a speaker on privacy and security based on the presentation experience listed on her resume. Immediately after the presentation, several members approach you to say they are certain that today’s presentation was exactly the same one that they had attended at the state association meeting two years ago given by a different speaker. Assess the implications for this individual if she breached ethical standards by passing off someone else’s work as her own.

Submit a 3-page paper or more describing each best practices.

The report must answer the following questions:

What is the legal issue?
Make reference to AHIMA Code of Ethics
What is your opinion of this issue?
