What will be the discipline policy at your school? For example, will your school function more like a military academy, where teachers and administrators have all the power, or will it be more like an experimental school, where students make all the rules?

1. What will be the discipline policy at your school? For example, will your school function more like a military academy, where teachers and administrators have all the power, or will it be more like an experimental school, where students make all the rules?
2.What will the curriculum look like? Explain your position. For example, will your curriculum demand that every student take the same subjects, or will students get to choose what they would like to study?
3. How will the classes be arranged? What will the layout of the school look like? Consider things like walls, common spaces, and the general shape of the building. You can either write out your ideas or draw them.
4.How will the students be grouped – ability, age, interests, or gender? How many will be in each group?
5.What role will the community play in your school? Who from the community will be involved, and how will you get them involved?
6.Will ethics and morals be part of the curriculum? If so, how will they be taught?
7.Based on what criteria will the teachers be selected?

What do we learn about them through his eyes? What are the social, cultural and religious values of the Vikings, according to Ibn Fadlan?

“The Risala is an account written by a sophisticated and educated Muslim, describing his observations of Vikings living in Russia. What does Ibn Fadlan think of the Vikings? What do we learn about them through his eyes? What are the social, cultural and religious values of the Vikings, according to Ibn Fadlan? How can we gauge the accuracy of Ibn Fadlan’s observations: is he a believable source of information, or is he prejudiced against the Vikings because their behavior and belief system are so different from his own?”

Explain the notion of Hindu enlightenment (Moksha), and how Atman and Brahman relate to enlightenment.

(a) Discuss the Hindu concepts of Atman and Brahman.

Then (b) Explain the notion of Hindu enlightenment (Moksha), and how Atman and Brahman relate to enlightenment.

Finally, (c) find two different examples from everyday life that help illustrate how an understanding of these three Hindu notions (Atman, Brahman, and Moksha) would change the way people act or behave. These two separate examples must be specific recent events (i.e. from the past six months) from the news (choose a news story from: CBS, ABC, CNN, NBC, FOX, BBC, or NYT only; a link to the story must be included for each). So you might consider, as just one example, a news story directly related to the coronavirus pandemic, such as people who refuse to wear masks, etc. Be sure your examples are not too general, and that you explain the examples before going on to apply the three concepts to each. The idea is, from the lens of Hinduism, how would a devout Hindu (as described in the textbook) approach the specific case that is discussed in the news article (again, with special reference to each of the three Hindu notions of Atman, Brahman, and Moksha). Your personal views are not required (you should just apply Hindu concepts to the examples) and be sure the examples are appropriate and do not directly mention any religion or any religious concepts we are studying.
