You will provide a Year 2 portfolio which includes: a self-appraisal, learning agreement and personal development plan; a capstone essay analysing your development throughout the programme in relation to 3 of the NMC platforms for Nurse Associates; supporting evidence of the achievement discussed in relation to the 3 NMC platforms you are writing about.

What is the purpose of this assessment?

The portfolio allows you to showcase your personal and professional development throughout the programme in relation to the NMC platforms and the Nurse Associate role.

Learning Outcomes

Appraise and reflect on previous performance to identify areas for continuing development and life-long learning.
Apply research appraisal, reading and academic writing skills to professional portfolio development.
Analyse and discuss challenging issues related to person-centred care and service provision and suggest solutions.
Analyse and evaluate their own role and influence on the organisation and delivery of care, demonstrating awareness of professional codes and scope of professional practice.

What is expected of me in this assessment?

Looking back over the 2 years of the course, consider your professional development for each of the 3 platforms. Use examples from practice or academic work to demonstrate how you have developed over the past 2 years – identify where you were at the start of the course compared to where you are at the completion of the course. Evaluate your journey focusing on acquisition of new knowledge and skills and discuss the impact this new learning has for delivery of person centred care. Discuss your impact on service provision.

Write a short paragraph about your plans for further development once you have registered as a Band 4 Nurse Associate .

Summarise your work .

Provide evidence of examples of your achievement of the 3 platforms you have discussed in your essay as an appendix to your assignment eg, service user feedback, OSCA mark sheets, essay feedback, specific sections of your PAD. Ensure confidentiality is maintained.

Complete and submit a self-appraisal which identify your strengths and areas for development, signed by your personal tutor in your portfolio.

Complete and submit a learning agreement negotiated with your practice assessor or personal tutor in your portfolio.

Complete and submit a personal development plan for post qualification goals for the next 1-5 years in your portfolio.

How should I use citations and references in my work?

Approximately 20 different references should be used within the Capstone essay. The references should be less than 10 years old. Work should be paraphrased and integrated into the assignment.
