Persuasive Speech Instructions
❖ Make sure that you have carefully read and understand the information in Ch. 14-16 and Ch. 18.
❖ You must decide what the main goal of your persuasive speech is:
o To strengthen or weaken attitudes, beliefs or values of your listeners
o To change their attitudes, beliefs, or values
o To act in some way, to do something
❖ Identify your audience so that your topic will appeal to them.
o Examples of persuasive topics: Legalization of Prostitution, Puerto Rico as the 51st state, felon voting rights, the best American president, limiting congressional terms, legalization of assisted suicide, modification of genes to eliminate illiness, etc. These examples are not for you to use as a topic.
