The focus of work should be the provision of woman-centred care in promoting normality and choice, in partnership with childbearing women and their families. You are expected to reflect on an experience from practice, in order to demonstrate your knowledge and ability to analyse the care of a normal, low-risk woman in the antenatal/intrapartum period.
An element of care from either the antenatal or intrapartum period should be explored as your key focus, but you need to ensure that you discuss how one period influences the other, relating this to your chosen topic and experience of the mother and her baby. A holistic approach to care should be considered, which includes physical, psychological and social aspects.
